Default Venus transit pictures; High resolution

So what equipment do people predict will produce the best picture of the
transit (highest resolution) and where do you think the shot will be taken
from? I figure a large refractor in Florida. For amateur shots anyway.
For the professionals, it's hard to say.

Rich,

Considering the Sun is only about 12 degrees above the horizon when the
transit ends, I doubt Florida. It will probably be from somewhere where the
Sun is nice and high in the sky at transit end.

At any rate, why speculate? It is less work to just wait and see. It does
seem clear we will see some pretty exciting photos. A lot has changed in
the worlds of telescope and imaging since 1882.

Clear skies, Alan

Hi Rich,

The absolute best pictures will be produced only with extremely expensive
small-aperture apos on goto mounts.

Anything priced under $4,000.00 will give poor results.

So the FC-50 I bought to fondle (and Baader film) during the inevitable
rainstorm was a on target but too cheap?

I do plan to use one of two H-a solar telescopes in our observatory.
First is the 20" single lens coronograph and the second is the 8" H-a
patrol telescope.

So did you by the FC-50 with the wooden (display?) case on Astromart? I
almost did, but went with an FC-60 ...

I thought about that one (fair price I thought) but found a *slightly*
better deal. Nice little scope with ring and 5x25 finder. Now have two
50mm Taks, the FC-50 and my 7x50 finder g.

www.spaceweather.com has quite a few images linked. Some are pretty
good.

Cheers,
