MOSCOW, May 21 (RIA Novosti) - The Russian Defence Ministry holds back the development of the project for orbiting satellites from the Ruslan-124-100 jumbo transport under the Air Launch programme, Sergei Mashurov, vice-president of the Russian Air Launch corporation, told RIA Novosti in an interview on Friday.

Nope. Not involved in this one. The Russians do have quite
a few aircraft that are promising for space launch. These
include the Antonov An-22, the An-225, the Tupolev Tu-95 Bear,
the Tupolev Tu-160 Belyii Lebed (White Swan)/Blackjack (NATO).
Of course I'm not the only one to recognize the potential of
these aircraft for space launch. However, I am currently
convinced that our "kite-assisted SSTO" Space Van 2008 is the
best approach we have had to date.
