Gents,

Just a few days past perihelion and comet 168/P Hergenrother experiences an outburst. For an animation and time series, please seehttp://www.perseus.gr/Astro-Comets-168P-Hergenrother-20121006.htm.

In relation to the other popular comet story, namely C/2012 S1 (ISON), here is my catch with the comet at just over 990 million km away and at mag 18.1:http://www.perseus.gr/Astro-Comets-2...N-20120926.htm.

Anthony.

This is a nice classical comet situated well for imaging in Pegasus.

It's moving quite rapidly right now, allowing only about 60 sec

exposure before the comet drifts appreciably.

Shot last night with 7" F9 refractor unguided on 1600 mount, SBIG

ST11K camera. Total exposure approximately 30 minutes at 1 minute

intervals, medium combined.

Rolando,

I had a sucker hole this evening and which I used to capture 260P/McNaught. If you have the skies, go for it before it fades, for it is around mag 12 or so right now and it is showing signs of fading.

The comet is located in Andromeda.

Anthony.
