Default How does he do it

I was just having a laugh with a business colleague about some
ignorant comments made by "Rand Simberg" in relation to space tourism
when he clicked on a link and got a error basically saying the message
wasnt archived.

Some investigation reveals that "Rand Simberg" appears to make some of
his messages not be archived by the news system. Any ideas how he does
this.

I've no problem with him doing it, the man is a fool and should hide
his messages, but I was curious how he does it.

Or is this a function of the moderator???

First off, there is not "the news system" there are many software packages
that run Usenet - and all messages are archived (unless there is some very
special exception of some sort) in several sites. Unfortunately, yours will
also be available for some time.

Only moderated groups have a moderator - you probably did not realize that
this group is not moderated. If it was, I could appeal to the moderator to
delete yours on the basis that it is totally off topic. This is a group to
discuss space stuff and not generic Usenet technical topics.

Rand happens to be a very smart guy with a lot of really good points. I frequently
disagree with him but value his opinions and hope to continue to have access
to them.

Generic disclaimer - I am not assciated with Rand and have never even met
him. He does have some very valuable things to say.

By "business colleague" you of course mean "another freshman"?

.... but doesn't include

x-no-archive : yes
indicates to Google and other archiving services that the message should not
be stored.

(which I'm surprised to note _can_ be added to outlook express messages).

Spoke too soon. It seems they fixed that usability-hole.
