It's because all liberals (or at least 99%) believe that because someone
does not share their beliefs, the cause MUST be that they are stupid, or
at least intellectually inferior.

In other words, the very same mindset that was responsible for fascism,
nazism, and bolshevism; a genuine feeling that one's beliefs are based
on an intellectual foundation, "above" the common man's ability to
understand, and indisputably correct. This engenders the idea that
adherents of opposing views are somehow intellectually defective, and
thus worthy of contempt (and subsequently, worthy of elimination).
