NASA REVEALS DISCOVERY ABOUT PULSARS AT SPACE SCIENCE UPDATE

Recent findings about the fundamental properties of
rapidly spinning pulsars, from observations using NASA's
Rossi X-ray Timing Explorer, will be the topic of the next
Space Science Update (SSU). The SSU is at 1 p.m. EDT,
Wednesday, July 2, 2003, in the James E. Webb Auditorium at
NASA Headquarters, 300 E Street S.W., Washington.

Panelists include:

Dr. Deepto Chakrabarty, assistant professor of physics,
Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Cambridge, Mass.
Dr. Rudy Wijnands, research and teaching fellow, University
of St. Andrews, Scotland
Dr. Lars Bildsten, professor of physics, University of
California, Santa Barbara, Calif.
Dr. Barry Barish, professor of physics, California Institute
of Technology, Pasadena
Dr. Anne Kinney, director of astronomy and physics, NASA
Headquarters, Washington

The SSU will be carried live on NASA Television with two-way
question-and-answer capability for reporters covering the
event from participating NASA centers.

NASA Television is broadcast on AMC-2, transponder 9C, C-
Band, located at 85 degrees west longitude. The frequency is
3880.0 MHz. Polarization is vertical, and audio is monaural
at 6.8 MHz.

Audio of the broadcast will be available on voice circuit at
NASA's Kennedy Space Center, Fla., by calling 321/867-
1220/1240/1260.
