Does trying to get more bang for the buck equate to buying used online
at all?

Might there be a used telescope market, perhaps at swap meets and/or
areas setup at get togethers?

I am asking of people who have experience with such purchases and any
gotchas that might have come up.

Avoid E-Bay, it is loaded with cheap scopes which are very low
quality. If you buy used anywhere, be SURE to learn all you can about
the good and bad brands of scopes, eyepieces, etc., and check any
references you can about the seller.

Yeah, at the time I posted the original Link I hadn't yet heard of
Astromart.
