Hey NASA! ENOUGH with the God-d--- global warming B.S.!
STICK to your mandate, you are being humiliated every single day by
other agencies who KNOW what they are supposed to be doing. Here is an example: BBC: Delegates to the European Space Agency are expected to approve a billion-euro mission to Jupiter and its icy moons when they meet in Paris on Wednesday. The probe, called Juice, would be built in time for a launch in 2022, although it would be a further eight years before it reached the Jovian system. The mission is being recommended for selection by Esa's executive. |

Like NASA, it is part of ESA's mandate to build Earth monitoring satellites and to study global climate. Both agencies, quite correctly, mount a variety of missions for studying the Solar System (of which Earth is a member... a fact that you are apparently unaware of). |

Not, if he's on another planet! ;-) Which is also why he is denying the spin-offs from the countless advances in science, materials, methods and technology. Not to mention the large number of real, often highly skilled jobs and earnings, which come from all satellite research activity. Plus the savings in lives from early warning of violent weather systems and other natural disasters from continuous global monitoring. The irony, which the troll again overlooks, is that these same satellites could eventually offer a better insight into AGW. Its significance and possible mitigation without stomping on the economic brake pedal. Which he fears more than the consequences to the human race and our only home. If taxpayers were funding China to build our satellites to line the pockets of a few, totally corrupt, psychotic dictators then the troll might actually have a point. Instead of which satellite building and delivery into orbit rakes in billions of real dollars from those employed on the exciting endeavour to know our planet better. |

The mission is being recommended for selection by Esa's executive. The NASA Charter is unequivocal - "(d) Objectives of Aeronautical and Space Activities.--The aeronautical and space activities of the United States shall be conducted so as to contribute materially to one or more of the following objectives: (1) The expansion of human knowledge of the Earth and of phenomena in the atmosphere and space. " http://www.nasa.gov/offices/ogc/abou...ct1.html#SHORT TITLE The American taxpayer has 350 years of old world empiricism working against them, they have a welfare system of peer review which only serves the reviewers who are engaging in this anti-competitive practice as their reputations and wages rely on a steady stream of students willing to write papers that are compliant with the largest scale case of groupthink bar none to descend on humanity. The wider community in industry now has safeguards to combat groupthink yet by and large the vicious strain of empiricism has managed to defy scrutiny up to now but due to their aggressive appearance with climate, the planet definition, the leap second and many other current issues that reveal the symptoms of a welfare state inside a state, they have largely been exempted from any responsibility. That is changing with the 'Fraud Against Taxpayers Act' and it can't come soon enough to astronomy and terrestrial sciences. Until external influences are temporarily brought in to counter groupthink ,and it looks like it is left to the Americans once more, this vicious strain of old world empiricism will continue to wreck havoc with astronomy and terrestrial sciences and this is coming from elements of old world sensibilities who recognize groupthink more than outright fraud - "This empiricism, the melancholy heritage transmitted to us from former times, invariably contends for the truth of its axioms with the arrogance of a narrowminded spirit. Physical philosophy, on the other hand, when based upon science, doubts because it seeks to investigate, distinguishes between that which is certain and that which is merely probable, and strives incessantly to perfect theory by extending the circle of observation. "This assemblage of imperfect dogmas bequeathed by one age to another— this physical philosophy, which is composed of popular prejudices, —is not only injurious because it perpetuates error with the obstinacy engendered by the evidence of ill observed facts, but also because it hinders the mind from attaining to higher views of nature. Instead of seeking to discover the mean or medium point, around which oscillate, in apparent independence of forces, all the phenomena of the external world, this system delights in multiplying exceptions to the law, and seeks, amid phenomena and in organic forms, for something beyond the marvel of a regular succession, and an internal and progressive development. Ever inclined to believe that the order of nature is disturbed, it refuses to recognise in the present any analogy with the past, and guided by its own varying hypotheses, seeks at hazard, either in the interior of the globe or in the regions of space, for the cause of these pretended perturbations. It is the special object of the present work to combat those errors which derive their source from a vicious empiricism and from imperfect inductions." Homboldt ,Cosmos This is far from the sky blue Cosmos of Sagan, this is a battle to restore common sense and genuine authority in scientific matters and if it takes the law to temporarily intervene then so be it as there is no dividing line between reckless scientific assertions and outright fraught. |

" You should have stopped there. They are called 'subject matter experts',they don't meet and contribute anonymously to a decision making process which is far removed from your cozy conferences Peterson where guys like yourself engage in groupthink,if the 'planet definition' is not proof enough of that then nothing is. Groupthink is not fraud as you aptly demonstrate for you truly believe in what you promote and that it is why it is so hard to deal with yet there is nothing surer that when legal heat comes on,that type of legal warming will clear out the schoolboys with lifestyles that are wrecking havoc with astronomy and terrestrial sciences.A doctor in medicine or any job on the planet is subject to internal restrictions and standard apart from astronomy and terrestrial sciences who have escaped conceptual restraints as it is run off groupthink/peer review process which rewards compliance. http://wattsupwiththat.com/2012/04/3...of-groupthink/ Unlike these commentators who still traffic in assertions and counter assertions,I deal with the core problem of this vicious form of empiricism that began in Newton's time and it is not just Newton as a symbol for the shortcuts and distortions he introduced to get his 'theory of gravity' to work but more importantly, how his follower facilitated the 'scientific method' which is now creating these Frankenstein monster concepts on an industrial scale. There are no 'professional' astronomers, there are amateurs with talent who make a considerable effort to promote the discipline and then there are the welfare doctorates who use astronomy as a dumping ground for empirical theoretical junk. The days of reckless assertions are finished Peterson and the best thing that happened was 'global warming' to bring groupthink out in the open. |

http://www.nytimes.com/2012/05/10/op...e-climate.html If Canada proceeds, and we do nothing, it will be game over for the climate. Canada’s tar sands, deposits of sand saturated with bitumen, contain twice the amount of carbon dioxide emitted by global oil use in our entire history. |

A planet's climate is defined by its inclination,a planet with an 90 degree inclination like Uranus will have a polar climate while a planet with a zero degree inclination will have an equatorial climate. The old hypothesis of 'no tilt/no seasons' was fine for its day but now has to go in favor of 21st century concerns so that we can say the Earth has a largely equatorial climate influenced by the length of time different latitudes spend in solar radiation. Too many schoolboys with lifestyles and not enough astronomers for there is nothing so difficult about interpreting the images where the the polar coordinates of a planet act as a beacon for the orbital behavior of a planet and also define its climate characteristics. |
