Preview Screenings of The Journey to Palomar

Los Angeles filmmakers Todd and Robin Mason have just completed a new film
about astronomer George Ellery Hale and his founding of the greatest
observatories of the 20th century at Mount Wilson (above Pasadena) and
Mount Palomar (near San Diego) called The Journey to Palomar
(www.journeytopalomar.org).

Hale was also one of Pasadena's early founders. In addition to the
observatory at Mt. Wilson, he was also the visionary behind shaping
Pasadena as a center of science and culture. He was instrumental in
founding Caltech, the Huntington Library, and Pasadena's Civic Center and
Civic Auditorium.

There will be two exciting evening events in July to help raise donations
toward a PBS broadcast of the film. The first event will be at the Hale
Solar Lab in Pasadena on Friday evening, July 21st. The second is at The
Museum of Jurassic Technology in Culver City, on Thursday evening, July
27th.

The Masons will be on hand at both events to discuss the film and answer
questions. A $100 donation includes film screening, food, fun, tour of the
Hale Solar Lab or the Museum of Jurassic Technology and a free 3D poster of
the famous Palomar 200-inch telescope. There will also be a celestial
telescope viewing after the film, guided by some of the Mount Wilson staff.

The $250 donation also includes two free viewing nights with the famous
giant 60-inch telescopes at Mt. Wilson and Palomar!
