Default Bring "home" an asteroid?

I remember reading a while back about the possiblity of bringing an asteroid to
geosynchronous orbit and then mining it. This, I remember reading, would make
the mining process more cost effective.
Has any group member read about this, specially what method could be used to
bring an asteroid to a geosynchronous orbit, and if it is being considered
within the near future?
Thanks.

Well, yes, for example see:

http://www.panix.com/space/mining.html

and the links therein. As for where to look for materials on
geosynchronous in particular, I'd first try http://www.permanent.com/
although I don't know for sure. But the other sites can help you
estimate the costs for yourself, and what assumptions would affect them.

Personally, I'd say it is a lot more credible to do at least the first
stages of refining before transporting anything. The delta V to
transport an asteroid is really daunting (even just deflecting one
slightly, to avoid an earth impact, is difficult).

if it is being considered within the near future?

No.

I could try to make this on-topic for sci.space.station by talking
about bringing the asteroid to ISS orbit rather than geosync, but
instead I'll just redirect followups to sci.space.moderated.
