Annual image of Hubble's Variable Nebula

I've been following this nebula for several years now. I've since learned it can vary in only a few days but so far I've only followed it yearly. Weather last winter prevented me from getting enough data to do a series to see the short term changes. In fact I couldn't even get more than one round of color data for this image.

My seeing varies so much some of the differences seen are due to seeing but most are due to different parts of the cloud being illuminated. Besides this years image I've included a three year image showing the changes from 2011 through 2013. Color data was poor in both 2012 and 2013 with blue strongest in 2012 and weakest in 2013. That likely accounts for some of the color changes. Seeing was much better in 2012 than either 2011 or 2013. In fact it got so bad during the blue frame I stopped collecting data expecting to try again under better conditions but that never happened all of the time it was well positioned in 2013. My goal was a quick luminance image every night so they could be compared on a night to night basis in an animation. Conditions were so different the few nights I did have, this was impossible. I'd tried for the same in 2012 but again the few usable nights made this impossible then as well. Maybe in 2014 or late 2013. And Charlie Brown may finally kick that football.
