Default Future life to Orbit White Dwarfs

If intelligent life needs time to evolve what better area than a planet
orbiting a white dwarf. In6 billion years from now white dwarfs will be
the galaxies most popular stars. They can last 100 billion years. Could
life ask for anything more? I think not Bert

Unfortunately, a normal sized star (by our Sun's measure) turns into a Red
Giant first, thus killing all life on planets in the "Goldilocks Zone",
evaporating all liquid water and possibly devouring the innermost planets,
before finally collapsing into a White Dwarf. There won't be any inhabitable
planets left to enjoy the new stable White Dwarf environment.

Hagar (not so horrible) What you are telling me is white dwarfs have no
solar systems. would you stake your life on that hypothesis? I hope
not. Bert

Beeert, I didn't say that. White Dwarfs do have planets, but the ones who
would be in the Goldilocks Zone were made uninhabitable by the cataclysmic
event responsible for the White Dwarf in the first place. The inner planets
(up to a 150 million mile radius) are now mere cinders, cooked by the Red
Giant, the progenitor to the White Dwarf.

Daffy duck Wit So is every explosion, but time heals all . Nature uses
explosions to create life. Gravity evolves all..and White Dwarfs are
no exception A spacetime of 100 billion years can help- Bert

Hagar Not horrible Going through space for 100 billion years after
its red giant stage it will pick up other planets on its way. It still
has great gravity, and that's a big help in capturing planets. Bert
