Incidentally, having read this article

http://www.guardian.co.uk/science/ac...sa-gale-crater

I have a good answer for the concerns noted in this article

http://www.theregister.co.uk/2012/08...osity_wont_go/

Gale crater, since it encapsulates nearly all of Mars' geological
history, is sure to answer many questions; while the search for life
on Mars is the most important question, to be sure, but a crater that
may have had water once - even if that is very likely - could
disappoint if it fails to answer the _one_ question it is useful for
answering.

Yeah right... look for Martian canals -- none found
look for Martian cities -- none found
look for little green men -- none found
look for a blade of grass -- none found
look for an ant -- none found
look for a mite -- none found
look for bacteria -- none found
look for viruses -- none found
look for protein -- none found
look for amino acids -- none found
look for carbon atoms and H2O -- YIPPEE! We found the building blocks of
life on Mars!
What an important question to answer!
I saw a rock in one picture. Rocks are the building blocks of cathedrals.
