40 Years Ago To The Day, ‘Doctor Who’ Predicted ‘Alternative Facts’

In “The Face of Evil: Part Four,� which premiered on Jan. 22, 1977, the Doctor tells his future companion Leela:

"You know, the very powerful and the very stupid have one thing in common. They don’t alter their views to fit the facts. They alter the facts to fit their views."

Is the pursuit of science dead in this new era of alternate facts? You be the judge.

Certainly not. But the rate that we acquire knowledge will certainly

All the dunces promoted alternative fact 1 whereas alternative fact 2 has made a recent appearance but is equally absurd. Orwell borrowed on Nazi ideology when he wrote his dystopian novel hence the events which happened to astronomy a number of centuries ago run parallel with National Socialism in how the past is flexible to suit an end -

I've met a man who thought he was the biblical King David. The fact that "he believed it for a long time" doesn't make it so. Indeed, he should take a cue from the Buddhist nun Chodron who advises, "Don't believe everything you think." That is especially true for someone who gives evidence of being barking mad

The term 'genius' is so devalued as to be absolutely meaningless, at least in present astronomical affairs, so it is more fitting to be a spiritual/inspirational person nowadays where the spiritual informs the physical and indeed it has always been that way.

Contemporary imaging lights up the spiritual personality so it is not hankering back to the icons of another era but something that exists at present if observers can detach themselves from magnification and a rotating RA/Dec framework.

So ,in the space of 20 years they went from insisting the alternative fact 1 where the Earth rotates once in 23 hours 56 minutes 04 seconds to alternative fact 2 where the Earth rotates once in exactly 24 hours but only in the year 1820.

The actual fact is that the terms 'average' and 'constant' are conveniently interchangeable within the confines of the 24 hour system and the Lat/Long system and this framework sits inside the calendar format.

It doesn't matter anyway, you have found your own level in the forum which amounts to a torturous mediocrity that is mindnumbing to witness.

The only likely hope for the human race is a guaranteed basic income for all.

End all welfare as robotics and AI sweep away all work for all social classes.
Tax the robots and tax production to pay for a vital societal foundation.

Anyone who thinks Trump has any answers [at all] should try Photoshopping a few extra tens of pounds onto a picture of Jimmy Savile.
