Anyone had Orion's Hilux coating done on their existing 'scope ?
Hi,
I am just about to have my primary and secondary mirror coated on my Newtonian truss Dob. I was thinking about having my primary mirror coated by Orion Optics' Hilux, but it is too big to be Hilux'ed :-( I could have Hilux done on my secondary though. Has anyone out there had their secondary Hilux coated? How does it perform in terms of contrast and scattered light? Did it retain the figure that it had before it was coated? Do you notice an increase in brightness? Did Orion Optics do a good job on the coating (no scratches, pin holes, etc..) How long does this coating stay perfect for? Do any objects have slight perculiar colour casts to them now? Would you recommend it to others? Thanks. BTW, any one else in St.Helens got a reasonable 'scope and an interest in Astronomy?
