Default Daylight Saving Time - How To Explain It To The Average Citizen

Seriously, how does one explain such a simple technique to shift apparent daylight without putting the other person into a coma?

You cannot, as it is a political idiotic insane retarted crazy moronic anti human measure

imposed on the poor people by cluless repeat previous poly-tick-sians.

We should move all the world to UTC and be done with it.

________

Well, it sounds as though our sentiments on the practice are similar. LOL!

That said, it is important to be able to explain how it works if I am to convince others that DST/summer time be abolished, or at least in the case of North America, rolled back to sensible months of observation.

This works well if you are in England, France, Spain, Portugal, Benelux

countries, etc. It would work less well for countries further and further

from the Greenwich Meridian.

But shifting clocks around seems to satisfy some deep inner politician's

need to tell people what to do. There are some places that refuse to go

along with the annual back and forth shift. Astronomers in California at

Palomar, Mt Wilson, and Lick operate on Pacific Standard Time for

mountaintop "civil" purposes (e.g., what time is lunch and dinner?) all year

long. They use UTC for "scientific" work.

______________

Yes, it is the politicians who enforce(and equally don't understand!) DST, but if you really want to blame someone:

Three fellows most often credited with the idea:

Benjamin Franklin, President and Postmaster.

George Vernon Hudson, Astronomer and Entemologist.

William Willett, Architect.

Are there any locations, other than in Brazil, where the date of a clock
change can be affected by the date of Easter Sunday?
