So we can look forward to a new generation of American spelling mistakes,
poor grammer and horrible sentence constructions.

Presume I, mean you, the following, something like?

Persnickety writers:

Are academics, say, more difficult than others?

Language is a fluid medium. In constant change to match the needs of
the people who use it. The mixing of many nationalities and races
within the USA would seem to be the primary melting pot for what we
call English.
"Don't you know, Eh what, Old Chap", were once in everyday use by the
"toffee-nosed" gentlepersons portrayed in British childrens comics &
films of the time. Today it sounds simply ludicrous.
I hate the term "looking to" (do something). It is the lingual
equivalent of mooning as far as I am concerned.

I'm so relieved. My old 14th edition is nearly worn out, and I consult it
for every newgroup post I make.

In lieu of that, you could write an Irish version with new spelling
mistakes, poor "grammer" [sic] and horrible sentence constructions,
which, to my knowledge, does not yet exist. Or you could buy the
Oxford version, which is also less than perfect.

I like it too, Chuck, and mine doesn't have "newsgroup" in it either.
