[spaceflight now] OSP: Deja Vu all over again?
Getting things back firmly onto a space history -- or space soon-to-be-historic -- footing, cast your peepers at the Spaceflight Now article containing no unflattering photos of female Shuttle Management personnel of any kind at http://spaceflightnow.com/news/n0307/23osp/ containing the concept art at http://spaceflightnow.com/news/n0302...spconcepts.jpg ....and containing a set of concepts including something reminiscent of the old HL20 or the old Soviet MiG "flying shoe", something resembling a cross between an X15 and an F18, a "wide body" version of the aforementioned, and a couple of -- surprise, surprise, said Gomer -- capsule concepts: one resembling a flattened Soyuz CM with a barebones retro/propulsion module attached, and the other a Boeing concept that's almost a dead ringer for...well, have a look for yourselves: http://spaceflightnow.com/news/n0307...ospcapsule.jpg ....and ask yourselves if perhaps some engineers weren't lurking on our interminable if-we-could-rebuild-the-ApolloCSM-today threads, or our acrimonious next-generation-crew-rescue-and-ferry-craft threads. Naaah. -- "All over, people changing their roles, along with their overcoats; if Adolf Hitler flew in today, they'd send a limousine anyway!" --the clash. __________________________________________________ _________________ Mike Flugennock, flugennock at sinkers dot org Mike Flugennock's Mikey'zine, dubya dubya dubya dot sinkers dot org |
