Default Race Rings

Its been a while now, and I've not seen any banner headlines on exactly what
did cause the premature wear on the Sarj that needed all that work, and my
yet need to be totally replaced. It sounds, on the face of the reports I
heard that the hardening of the swurface was not performed correctly or more
to the point was not inspected in a way that showed the problem. Howeve the
other one seems to be OK which is very odd. Has anything appeared on this
one.
Seems to me that there could be other ticking time bombs if there are
problems with inspection techniques.
Still on the bright side, all of the premature life accelerations like
pumps, solar arrays that bind etc, should one hopes result in more reliable
hardware for any future outpost further from home where resupply is not
going to be so easy.
Fixable items need to be designed as does the facilities to work on said
items easier. Certainly designing things like water processing on the ground
and flying them for short periods does not seem to result in reliable
hardware either!

Can you imagine tha havoc which could be created in a dusty environment of
an asteroid, moon or planet with a lot of dust about?

Brian
