The one consistent factor in the economy since Truman is that GDP growth increases almost twice as fast with Democratic administrations as compared with Republican ones. This partisan gap in growth is large and statistically significant. That's baloney, any way you slice it. GDP growth under Oblamer never reached 3% per year and averaged under 2%. |

We should have colonized the Moon AND Mars y now, visited all the other planets, and have a ship headed to a near star system. But lack of interest by an increasingly science-illiterate public and increasing weak-willed politicians means the space program is back at square one, wondering slack-jawed if they can cobble together another Saturn V for a return trip to the Moon and keeping that worthless money-pit the ISS in orbit. If the USA had a second Johnson term instead of Nixon the Vietnam war would have ended years earlier and the USA would have been on Mars before the end of the 20th century. Johnson had already set the U.S. down the debt road with his "Great Society" which cost as much as Vietnam. He was also a paper tiger who bailed because he could't take the pressure. Without Kennedy and Johnson there’d have been no Apollo. OUTSTANDING! Then Project Orion would have happened (Kennedy killed it and went with Apollo) and we'd already have COLONIES on Mars and the Moon. |

Too much radiation from planetary takeoff. Ok from space made from asteroid resources Nixon was agitating to massively increase US forces in Vietnam when Kennedy was President (listen to Simon and Garfunkel six o’clock news/silent night for confirmation). All the money would have been spent in an earlier more violent war. |

As stupid as Chris is (and he is, it seems to be inherent in all people named Chris), personal credit cards are not "the economy." And making use of credit is not "maxing it out." Many companies do, in fact, use credit extensively, and more so when times are good, with a business model build around the idea. -- Terry Austin Vacation photos from Iceland: https://plus.google.com/u/0/collection/QaXQkB "Terry Austin: like the polio vaccine, only with more asshole." -- David Bilek Jesus forgives sinners, not criminals. |

Then why don't you max out all your credit cards, and then report back to us. The country has been at economic high points with high debt, and at economic low points with low debt. The economy is much more complex than just debt. And while personal economics bears little resemblance to national economics, the reality is that there are people with high debt who are managing their resources far better than people with no debt at all. As noted, debt is a lousy indicator of economic status. |
