Thanks for that - you learn something new every day. I'll give it a
go.

BTW - My camera adapter wouldn't allow me to use some higher power
eyepieces - the barrel depth was too great.

As luck would have it, I bought a rubber hood for my Oly's lens with a
49mm thread. The hood's threaded ring has a 49mm male thread on the
camera side and a 49mm female thread on the subject side. The depth
of this ring is about 5mm thus allowing me to now use the adapter with
my higher power eyepieces.

This would of course work for any camera lens size. It might be of
interest and saves on purchasing an extendable adapter.
