Default New Month Begins With Experiment Activation

ISS Crew Activates EarthKAM

Expedition 10 Commander Leroy Chiao and Flight Engineer Salizhan Sharipov
kicked off February with the activation of an experiment that allows
students on the ground to observe their planet from the International Space
Station. The EarthKAM (Earth Knowledge Acquired by Middle school students)
experiment allows students to use the Internet to control a special digital
camera mounted onboard the International Space Station, enabling them to
photograph Earth's geographic features.

In other activities, the crew prepacked equipment that will return to Earth
with STS-114. The crew also set up and began the first runs on a
Russian/German materials science experiment.
