Here we have supposedly professional scientists sending stupid letters back and forth arguing over their "beliefs" like journalist HVAC does. Mathematics is total fantasy but Cosmology is the ULTIMATE fantasy! Nobody has been anywhere NEAR all of the crap they all speculate about, but still they argue like it's some kind of religion. How stupid can you get. Does this still fool the public? Truth is that they are all idiots. The Big Bang is bull****. And even worse, all these believers think the universe is "expanding" and in the next breath deny that there are any more dimensions than time-space. This is so pseudoscience as to boggle the mind! This it the kind of crap that community college instructor Wormley used to argue about. Just amazing! |

That's a storm in a teacup compared to the feud over Steady State vs Big Bang that raged in the sixties between Fred Hoyle and Martin Ryle. Big Bang being a derogatory term that Hoyle coined. -- Regards, Martin Brown |

In article ,
Martin Brown writes: That's a storm in a teacup compared to the feud over Steady State vs Big Bang that raged in the sixties between Fred Hoyle and Martin Ryle. Or any number of other controversies: the nature of "island universes," the existence or not of dust reddening, the value of the Hubble constant, whether QSO redshifts are entirely cosmological. And those are just the ones in astronomy that come to mind this minute. For the record, the original article is at https://www.scientificamerican.com/a...es-challenges/ The letter from 33 physicists is at https://blogs.scientificamerican.com...c-controversy/ A response to that letter is at the bottom of the previous link. -- Help keep our newsgroup healthy; please don't feed the trolls.
