RIP Pat Flannery?

It surprises me that you guys are this interested in someone you only know through Usenet. Have you guys ever met Pat in real life (IRL)? If it *is* Pat than he passed away relatively young at just 56. He posted here only a few days ago (September 24th). This has happened on other groups - there's someone who consistently makes intertesting posts - and you just get to expect them each day when you go in - in fact you go in each day and look for his posts - and suddenly they Larry Lippman.. -- A host is a host from coast to & no one will talk to a host that's close........[v].(301) 56-LINUX Unless the host (that isn't close).........................pob 1433 is busy, hung or dead....................................20915-1433 |

I'm not sure who posted this:

I take it these folks have never had a pen pal. The divide between friends on line and friends in real life is not a line at all but an easily crossed grey zone. I never met Pat Flannery but I have met an assortment of posting friends from UseNet and ended up in person friends with them each time. Be cautious when making the distinction between friends in "real" life and friends on line. It is a statement that tells more about the writer than it does about the readers. |
