Default big loop?

Why do they sometimes use the term "on the big loop" and other times not?

Big loop is the docked combination of A/G-1 and S/G-1 so everyone,
shuttle and station both can talk. For station only talk to MCC, S/G-2
is used while docked. A/G-2 is for shuttle only
