Tunguska 'spaceship' discovery -- Russian space debris??
Relayed From: "Geert Sassen"
Date: Wednesday, August 11, 2004 8:55 AM They might have found some parts of the fifth Vostok test flight (Dec. 22, 1960) which made a suborbital flight due to failure of the 3rd stage. See 'Challenge to Apollo'/Asif Siddiqi page 260 quote "the payload landed about 3500 km downrange from the launch site in one of the most remote and inaccessible areas of Siberia, in the region of the Podkamennaya Tunguska River close to the impact point of the famed Tunguska meteorite". As this area is more or less directly underneath the flightpath of Baykonour launches, it can be expected that it is littered with rocket debris.... |

The Evenki provincial home page is at
http://www.evenkya.ru/eng/ and it has a map that shows the reported recovery zone around Poligus is well within the circle around the Dec 22, 1960 landing location (s) described by Sven Grahn's account (link below). Details of the rescue of the capsule's dogs, and the location of the spacecraft landing (with MAP): http://www.svengrahn.pp.se/histind/s...tml#bad%20luck |

That explains it. In reality the fifth Vostok flight hit a temporal window on its way up and when it re-appeared it was nearly 60 years previous! As this area is more or less directly underneath the flightpath of Baykonour launches, it can be expected that it is littered with rocket debris.... |

My first thought was of the Bruce Stirling story "Storming the cosmos" in which the recovered space craft component reflects its discoverers expectations. I imagine that this would explain its extreme ugliness. -- Michael Smith Network Applications www.netapps.com.au | +61 (0) 416 062 898 Web Hosting | Internet Services |
