Default Welcome to Moscow Astronomy Club!

Dear amateur astronomers,

Moscow Astronomy Club (MAC) is glad to announce several good news.
First of all, the Club has finally acquired its own accomodation place
near the center of Moscow. It is located in the Bauman's Garden, on the
second floor of library building near casino Golitsyn. The address is
Staraya Basmannaya street, 15, bldg 15. This is within 10-15 minutes
walking distance from metro stations Kurskaya, Baumanskaya and Krasnye
Vorota.

The club is open every afternoon. If you happen to be in Moscow, call
206-76-32 and let us know that you are going to visit us. Several times
a month, weather permitting, public observations are held in the park
with the Club's telescopes. The main instrument of MAC is 20-inch
Dobsonian called "Big Eye". Many Club members (there are about 70 of
them at the moment) bring their telescopes for these gatherings.

We are also glad to invite you to the new version of our web-site at
http://www.astroclub.ru/ (English version http://www.astroclub.ru/en/ is
available). You will find there the map with Club location, contact
details and information on the nearest Club meetings. Usually we are
gathering every second Wednesday of the month in the Conference Hall of
Sternberg's Astronomical Institute of Moscow State University.

Besides the monthly meetings the Club activity includes several
workgroups on different areas of amateur astronomy. Currently there are
four such groups: Mars Patrol, Variable Stars, Asteroidal Occultations
and Solar Observations. We are open to collaboration with amateur
astronomical societies, groups and organisations all around the world.

Every April since 1999 Moscow Astronomy Club is arranging international
festival of amateur astronomers and telescope makers (AstroFest). Last
festival in April 2003 was attended by over 350 people from Russia,
Belarus and Ukraine. We would be glad to see you at the next festival
in April, 2004. If you would like to join us, please contact Club at
the following addresses:

Head of the Club - Andrew Ostapenko (astronom at narod dot ru)
Club Secretary - Alexander Aleshin (aleshin at mail.cnt.ru)
Webmaster - Victor Stepanov (victors at astroclub dot ru)

Workgroup coordinators:
Mars Patrol - Alexander Mereminsky (mirali_h at mtu-net dot ru)
Variable Stars - Dmitry Matsnev (jawdet at mail dot ru)
Asteroidal Occultations - Denis Denissenko (denis at hea.iki.rssi.ru)
