Check around for a local Internet Provider in your area. Sometimes
even apartment buildings have their own providers.

I've been paying too much too since Earthlink bought out my local
provider. I've got to do something too.

I have a back up account with NetZero that is free. I don't use it
because I hate the way they take up part of the screen as an area for
their ads. But maybe if you upgrade to one of their premium accounts
that would go away. They're cheap, anyway.

If you buy a computer, there will be options on that too for signing
up with various providers.

I wouldn't recommend AOL. They were constantly bogging me down with
their own popups, and one time a set of books was delivered to my door
and charged to my credit card, and I didn't even know what I'd clicked
on! They were sleazy! When I closed the account, I never looked
back!
