Just saw this:

Blue Origin carrying out "rocket launch activity".
"NOTAM Text:

And Armadillo Aerospace was set to make their first test flight to
100,000 ft, 30 km, in April, but an unauthorized person, a hunter, in
the launch zone caused them to scrub the launch:

Armadillo Aerospace's "Tube Rocket" 'Stig' completed.

Unfortunately, White Sands Missile Range (WSMR) which is next door to
the launch site at SpacePort America has not granted a right to launch
since the canceled April flight.

What is that in English?-) - for example is 10,000 MSL 10,000 feet or
something else?

No flying up to 10,000 above sea level out on the salt flat at 31.2706
N, 104.4546 W (Google Earth shows their circular test pad there) near
Van Horn, Texas and for a radius of 17 miles in any direction on
Thursday, May 5, 2011 between 7 AM - 12 AM local time.
The 17 miles is a little strange; one would have expected either 15 or
20 miles?

~30km?

Sadly, maps.google.com doesn't show the pad, just a whole lot of not
much at those coordinates. Just 7 Heart Pass (I am assuming Ps stands
for Pass)

On Google Earth's April 2008 imagery it's a circular empty area about
130' in diameter that may be concrete covered, and that's it...no
buildings or anything at the pad itself. What I think is their command
area with a identical pad with some sort of structures on it is located
2.0 miles to its south, joined by a road.
Is the idea to fly the spacecraft from one pad to the other?

Just found their vehicle assembly building, which is located at 31 deg
23' 49".85 N, 104 deg 44' 49".66 W. - 3.83 miles south of the pad in
the NOTAM.

I wonder how much detail you could get with a powerful telephoto lens
at 17 miles away?
On this page are shown some photos taken from up to 2 miles away
using one of the most powerful telephoto lens ever made commercially
the Canon Super Telephoto 1200mm f/5.6L:

The Mother of all Telephotos.
Canon only made a handful of these puppies and we got one!

Just saw this today from Masten Space Systems:

Xaero 20110512 Tether Flight.mov
"Uploaded by mastenspace on May 12, 2011
Here is a glimpse of our tethered test sequence. With the tied down
(or tied up) tests completed, this is the next step in qualifying our
Xaero rocket vehicle for flight. In addition to testing the various
aspects of the hardware and shaking out bugs in the software, we are
also refining our crew operations. Today (05.12.11) we completed 3
tethered flights. Yesterday, we ran 5 tethered flights. It shouldn't
be long before the chains come off and the free flights begin. Stay
tuned for more updates. Media: contact Masten Space Systems for higher
resolution video."

It is 15 miles statute; aviation miles are generally nautical.

In case someone is reading this on a forum other than sci.physics
where Jim already made a correction to his post, that 15 miles should
have been 20 miles
as nautical miles are longer than statute miles.
