Liquid injection for Minuteman III steering
For a Minuteman III, Stage 1, what's the liquid injected into the
nozzle for increased directional control? Is it a combustible fluid like N2O4 or a dense but inert one, like Freon 114? Thanks |

You might be able to find more info about them since they're not missiles. Yes. Are there two sets of injectors for each nozzle on the rocket? |

I have no idea, but I doubt it. *They probably get mixed in whatever proportions are appropriate for the shockwave desired prior to hitting the injector. Minuteman did not use N2O4. It was a fluorocarbon fluid. Titan used N2O4. |

One of the great "snipe hunts" of the EPA was the replacement of chloroflurocarbons in strategic missile systems because of "potential damage to the ozone layer." What about ozone damage resulting from the detonation of hundreds of thermonuclear weapons? DUH!! |

Still, strategic missile systems were never tested, nor had leaks?-) rick jones -- firebug n, the idiot who tosses a lit cigarette out his car window these opinions are mine, all mine; HP might not want them anyway... feel free to post, OR email to rick.jones2 in hp.com but NOT BOTH... |
