Astronomy software
About 10 years ago I was using a Mac and a program called Voyager II. It
was a great program, I still use it today on this ancient Mac laptop I got off eBay. Also, I use USNO's Multiyear Interactive Computer Almanac (MICA), on a PC. MICA is due for an update after next year. The point is the Astro SW that I'm using (hobby) is dated. Can anyone recommend something relatively new (this millennium) that is good software related to Astronomy? They all look good in the adds, but I know actually experience with the program is much better. TIA, Eric |

TIA, Eric The best ones I know of are Starry Night (www.starrynight.com) for Mac and PC, and Voyager III for the Mac (for OS X and OS 9). Both come in several versions and you can download demos. TIA, Eric Try Cartes Du Ciel (Sky Charts in english) http://www.stargazing.net/astropc/ It's free, a very good price. There are some minor translation issues in the english language version. Completely understandable, but noticed. Not as user friendly as some of the commercial versions, but very powerful and very flexible. |
