Default SAO's newbie help pls

Just bought my first scope, a Celestron Nexstar 102mm refarctor with
motorised gismos and software that I've almost worked out.

However, it asks me for the SAO's that it's descruction manual doesn't
list/include - even for the most obvious/brightest stars!

I've Googled and downloaded Gigs of stuff that still doesn't tell me what
99999XXAABB etc represents which star - can one or some of you kind folks
tell me where to look (a URL) or what I'm doing wrong please.

Thanks

Mark

Hi Mark,

not at all familiar with this scopes controller, though it is a bit
surprising that it only asks for SAO numbers...

Some of the star chart programs such as Guide give you the SAO
designation (and other catalogue designations) when you click on an
object to get its info display.

I also found this website:
http://www.alcyone.de/SIT/bsc/bsc_search.html

which probably does what you are looking for...

Hope this helps,

Callum

thanks Callum I'll check it out and report back

Mark
