Default Sky Charting


I'm working on a quasi-SkyChart program.

At first, it showed a just a projection such as the Times would publish
for its North Pole readers; Polaris in the middle, Orion (6h) at the
right. I added a version for the South Pole readers, the Cross near the
middle, Orion on the left at 6h.

I now contemplate viewers facing RA 0h, 6h, 12h, 18h. Is there any sort
of convention as to which way should be up on the paper? Currently I
have Declination +90 at the left and -90 at the right, but that does put
the Wulff chart sideways.

The decision is taken; Dec +90 degrees is at the top when facing an RA.
