Forget about the site, and try to be open minded. Never accept or deny anything 100%, otherwise your mind gets into dead-ends, and you become a dead-head. That's the problem with most science/scientists, they look for proof of theories, instead of looking for truth per se. |

McCanney is an idiot, by the way, as anyone with a spectroscope can attest. Of course, millions of amateur and professional astronomers around the world are all part of a fraud organised by NASA. Go here for some knowledge, and avoid the crackpot sites. "McCanney thinks our earth and the other planets were originally comets that were drawn from their more elliptical orbits into more circular orbits. He is also quick to credit another maverick thinker who preceded him: Immanuel Velikovsky." Let's see now. a _huge_ comet is about the size of Rhode Island. 1 km across is more likely - 10^12 kg. A planet is just a bit bigger. 10^12 x bigger. And his electrical theory is untenable (cue Eric Crew). -- Support the DEC Tsunami Appeal http://www.dec.org.uk/. The referred webpage proposes that there is no water ice in comets, and that although people have looked for water, they've not found it. In fact there is clear evidence for water and a google search for comet + molecular + spectrum (note no presupposition of water) finds the following http://adsabs.harvard.edu/cgi-bin/np...p;db_key=A ST quote "Finally, CO(+) and H2O(+) emissions first increased in intensity and then decreased in the tail, which displayed an abundance of water vapor. " end quote also http://quasar.la.asu.edu/comets/hale-bopp.html quote "Also present in the plasma tail spectrum are weak features due to ionized water (H2O+) " end quote |
