ASTRO: The Blue Snowball
It wasn't the best night for shooting small objects but...I take what I can
get. For this object less is more. The longer exposures tend to blow the inner arc out and flattens the look of the nebula. This is a 1 minute worth of data with 2 subs taken through my C-11 @ f/10 with the Canon XTi @ 800asa. Joe |

Joe I've tried it a few times but seeing never was up to it here. When seeing is good I have other targets that I seem to go to instead. What is the bit depth of the XTi? Processing some objects can be a challenge. I have more trouble with faint ones going flat on me if I try to push too far into the faint region. I can do it but it takes time to find the right curves to use. Rick -- Correct domain name is arvig and it is net not com. Prefix is correct. Third character is a zero rather than a capital "Oh". |

I see that it is 12 bit

Nice picture. This nebula is bright enough to look good in short exposures.

cool shot of a cool object Joe
This is one object I've never imaged. Someday.... "J McBride" wrote in message ... It wasn't the best night for shooting small objects but...I take what I can get. For this object less is more.
