and the last one for this week-end :
VDB142 full res with ST2K, 8"SCT FD5 with lumicon guider/reducer, 6X20 min
i had to deal with the clouds for this one, but anyway i achieved 6 good
20min shots. I experienced the same problem : the difficulty of finding good
guiding star through Halpha filter, so i used my 60 mm refractor with
starlight guiding cam (more cables!).

Great set of h-alpha images Patrice!

It looks like you have a good combination of camera and scope.

Do you have tube currents? There seems to be a notch taken out many of
the stars. I ended up with flat stars from trying to image across the
edge of my walls and through a tree. But I've not had a notch like that
before.

that came out nice but it is mirror-imaged....

flip it right-left and you will have the correct orientation.

you have captured the Proplyds too: see this:

Thanks George,
it seems to work well, but i had the bad idea of maximising the collimation
(which was nearly perfect) and i think it's worse now. the chip area which
is larger also brings problems with my lumicon focal reducer near the
borders (elongated stars).

Hi Rick,
it seems to happen only on the borders, maybe the collimation is not perfect
and also the effect of the lumicon reducer lens tend to elongate star and
perhaps give through the halpha filter the "notched stars". I had
experienced many problems trying to obtain a good collimation as the sky is
always turbulent here,
this could be a part of the explanation.
