Default question regarding sattelite images

Hey,

I read your webpage with much interest, but I still have one question
which I couldn't solve.
I should acquire some landsat images and compile a mosaic of these
images to one entity that covers the entire area. I should also add
georeferentiation to the image/mosaic and save image as JPEG, TIFF or
other for printing purposes at scales 1:100,000 and 1:200,000.

I have the time to try and suffer but I would ask if any of you has a
suggestion regarding the software that I could use for this task?
Free software would -of course- be the best...

Thanks a lot!

Goya
