Photoshop and Mac and Windows
This started on-topic under "For Mac Users Only" as
Today's (Wednesday, October 1) MacInTouch http://www.macintouch.com/ has an useful report on astronomy software for the Mac. In spite of the subject, 'Doze user Chris L Peterson jumped in with: I've got a good friend at Adobe. Since V5 they stopped developing PS on Macs, but do all the development in Windows and then port it. I reposted this assertion on comp.graphics.apps.photoshop, and Chris Cox replied: Your "friend" is pulling your leg. We do development on both platforms simultaneously (literally - I use 4 machines at once: 2 Mac and 2 Windows ;-). Don't know who Chris Cox is? Read your Photoshop splash screen. And he signed his name to his information. I'm glad he posted this, because I knew that Mr. Peterson's assertion that Photoshop (which was ported from the Mac to 'Doze) is being ported from 'Doze to the Mac was false, but I couldn't prove it. But Chris Cox has proved it. Davoud -- usenet *at* davidillig dawt com |

Your source has no credibility until you publish her name with her
assertion. Davoud -- Actually his source has plenty of creditability for the simple reason that Chris Peterson himself has proved himself to be very creditable over the years. The internet being the internet, aliases, motives, etc, that is about the best one can do. jon isaacs |

Jon Isaacs: Actually his source has plenty of creditability [sic] for the simple reason that Chris Peterson himself has proved himself to be very creditable [sic] over the years. ***** You must have missed part of this thread. Mr. Peterson published an assertion and cited the source as an anonymous Adobe employee. I knew that the assertion was false, but I had no proof. My proof came from a long-time Photoshop engineer, Chris Cox, who was willing to sign the information that he provided. Look at the PS credits and you will see Chris Cox's name there. The internet being the internet, aliases, motives, etc, that is about the best one can do. I can do a lot better than to repeat a false assertion from an unnamed source -- and I did do a lot better. I was passing on an assessment made by someone I know at Adobe, who I happen to believe has an accurate handle on things there. I'm not going to say who, since the official line has clearly been given by your source. Obviously, if Adobe is looking to get away from supporting Macs they aren't going to advertise it in advance, especially if they currently have an agreement in place with Apple. That's all I'm going to say about this. The thread has drifted way too far from its origin, a reasonable discussion of scientific image processing software available for Macs. _________________________________________________ Chris L Peterson Cloudbait Observatory http://www.cloudbait.com |

You must have missed part of this thread. Mr. Peterson published an
assertion and cited the source as an anonymous Adobe employee. Didn't miss a lick. I have been following the thread. I knew that the assertion was false, but I had no proof. My proof came from a long-time Photoshop engineer, Chris Cox, who was willing to sign the information that he provided. Look at the PS credits and you will see Chris Cox's name there. Looking for someone to give you the answer you want to hear might be proof for you but I am a few steps down road and it doesn't look so sure fire to me. I can do a lot better than to repeat a false assertion from an unnamed source -- and I did do a lot better. Davoud Well, as I said, over the years I have found what Chris has posted to be accurate, to me that is worth a great deal. I have also been around long enough to know that Inside Scoops are not something that someone will sign their name to. To the contrary, I am quite aware that insiders will generally stick with the company line when confronted when they are making a public statement. You want to get the truth, don't ask someone to sign their name to it..... The bottomline here is that I really don't care one way or the other but if I were a betting man, I would bet on Chris. He was just passing along some skuttle-butt he had heard. Time will tell. jon |

9). I've never taken steroids
Gee, do you think Arnold has ever taken steriods?? g I am a bit surprised that the media has not brought this topic up, after all, body building is the only sport I know of that has a "natural" class for those who are unwilling to abuse steriods. Of course the "natural" guys and gals are strictly amateur. Jon |
