Default Telescope made on 3D printer

Produces images as good as instruments costing 10x as much? Not judged by that moon shot it doesn't. The mount is obviously commercial Chinese, conventionally made.

The main mirror and other optics seem to have been made the "old-fashioned" way as well, not with a 3-D printer.

And what is this "telescope has a magnification of times 160" stuff?

Try this for more/better inspiration:

That is a pretty horrid image. The construction of the secondary support system violates a lot of the things that make for a quality result. In reality, 3-D printers are already being used to make certain complex parts in high end amateur and professional telescopes. Go check out the Planewave website as one example.

As far as the camera components, there is no need to buy some kind of Pi camera to take Moon pictures, or even deep space. Most people now have sensors in their pockets that are far better than what you could do in the old film days. Take a look at this Lunar image taken with an I-phone, held up to an eyepiece:

Why does this work? It's because the lens on an I-phone is sized perfectly to take in the exit pupil rays of a wide field ocular, almost exactly the same way as a person's eye. So what you see with your eye is what you will get on your I-phone.
