Sub solar point
Hi,
I am a physicist/model designer from Ahmedabad, India. Recently, I designed a model called the Sub-solar point model, which shows the point on the earth's surface where the sun is exactly overhead at that instant. This point changes from east to west during the course of the day and from the tropic of cancer to capricorn and back during the course of the year. The model is very useful in looking at the apparent motion, especially the north-south motion. I have designed the model in two forms: a permanent large model suitable for installation in a garden or open space and a small card model that can be kept on your palm. I have applied for a patent for both these models. I am happy to offer a free low resolution copy of the card model as a pdf. The model contains a map that is created specially for the user's location.. In case you are interested, please email me directly ) with your location (latitude and longitude, preferably in decimal degrees). Looking forward to hearing from you! Does it need updating every "epoch" or have you found some trick to make the calculation "perpetual". |
