Default ASTRO: NGC281 Halpha

again, ST2K testing, i was surprised by the quality achieved only with 2
20mins shots combined.
same setup : 8" SCT at FD5, astronomik Halpha filter 6nm.

excellent pix, both Patrice!

I can never get enough of '281 and 405 is great too

many thanks Richard,
i hesistated between st8 and st2k which was nearly a gift with its filter
wheel cfw9, finaly i'm happy with my choice and its halpha ability.

when it gets down to the details, the KAF1602E in the ST8E has far better
Halpha sensitivity than does the KAI20xx used the ST2k.

there's about a 2:1 difference in QE at the 656.3nm wavelength of the full
frame versus the interline sensors. Additionally the dynamic range is
greater with the ST8E's sensor and the read noise is lower.

all in all that sensor is the better sensor of the two for sensitivity,
noise, dynamic range but its pixels are fewer in number and larger in size
(which is why the well capacity is higher)
