For me, the fact that this is SpaceX's 11th flight for Falcon 9 is
secondary to the fact that they launched a satellite for China. The
last two ASIASATs were launched on Protons. When SpaceX is taking
business away from Russia (a well established player with low launch
prices), you know they're doing something right.

and the extra thrust to carry it." - Henry Spencer

Probably. Still, don't the Chinese (through their airlines) tend to
"spread the wealth" between Boeing and Airbus (or perhaps it is play
one off the other) when it comes to purchases of airliners? Have we
heard yet who will be launching ASIASAT 9 and G?

suggests a 2017 launch for the former, and while SpaceX's "hardware to
the launch site" page goes out to 2018 even, there is no ASIASAT 9
entry in 2017 as yet.
