Last posting I received was on August 8. The domain registration looks
okay now, but it might have briefly expired,

It appears to have expired on Monday, August 8th.

I'm not sure how to tell if it expired.

Easy. It wasn't working, as of 8-11-2016.

There are many reasons that could be the case besides the domain
registration expiring, however.

However, the page we have been seeing is quite typical of an expired domain.

Yes. A bit odd that what looks like a parked page isn't going away,
however.

Not great timing in the midst of the Perseids, when the forum tends to
get more active!

That Website is doing quite swimmingly as of 10:00 UT on the 13th. Not.
