South america or Queensland would be the perfect place!!!

No need to become an expatriate in retirement. There are plenty of sites

in the
southwestern U.S. with skies as dark as you'll find anywhere in the world,
including South America and Australia. Of course, Stehpen would have to

get his
lobster flown in from New England if he settles here ;o)

Just so happens that I don't care for lobster g.

I do like the ocean shore, but I'd definetly trade it for dark skies, a 14"
SCT in an observatory, a local swimming hole (preferably nude g), and a
mildly obnoxious Harley-Davidson to make the 5 mile daily trek down the
mountain for a cup of coffee and a paper.

The southwest is to cold for me, so that leaves that out! I want summer year
round and great offshore fishing near by...

Chas P.

How about Spring year around, those Florida "summers" are just too hot and
muggy..... Perfection = 72 F, 65% RH.

I'll see your mag 6 and raise you a magnitude. I wanna walk out my back
door and see mag 7 skies to the horizon in every direction. ;-)

Except during the day...

There are plenty of places here in the southwest where you can have your
dream -- but you have to make your own damned coffee!

I love those stats for daily living, but IME 50F is best for observing. Cold
starts at 40, damn cold starts at 20, and bugs start at 55. Give me New
England Spring and Fall weather under mag 7 skies, 3 hours either side of
midnight, year round, 20 years from now, and I'm there.

I'm not so sure it's a good idea for me to have coffee _before_ I come down
the mountain on the Harley.
