Grammer done got runned over by a Russkie raindear,
Like thar's grammer in Yoosnet fer peepul tuh see.
Yoo kin say thar's no sutch thang as Chromacor,
But as fer Tom 'n' Gramper, they BUH-leeve.

review of the Chromacor.

Listen, I don't care how well the chromacor works, it still works in
tandem with medium quality optics..SO WHAT if you remove much of the
colour, your still dealing with not even above average optics. TMB's
and that class still have superior quality optics. The star pics shown
at the cloudy nights site were no where near tack sharp even though
blue was nullified. Say that 5 times real fast VD, nullified.

You could _never_ consider me one of Valery's fans (far from it), but you
don't have the picture in focus. First of all, the optics on most of these
Chinese refractors is quite good, but it's still an achromat and that's one
of the major problems. This is the problem that Valery's Chromacor
corrects, and it does the job very well. The Chromacor _removes_ 98% of the
false color and makes a low cost refractor perform like an APO. It's
true...I didn't believe it until I saw it with my own eyes.

Now if you still want to compare a Chromacor equipped 150mm Chinese
refractor with a 6" "high end" refractor, such as a Tak, AP or TMB, I
suggest that you also compare the price. A 150mm Chinese refractor costs
about $400. Add the cost of a Chromacor ($800) and you've got an investment
of $1,200. The lowest cost high end APO will cost you at least 7 times
that.

Finally, I truly believe that Valery would sell a lot more stuff if he was
not such a damn PITA.

Or maybe you mean distinguishing between the 2nd person plural
possessive pronoun and the 2nd person plural of the verb "to be"? Or did
you have the correct usage of adjectives and adverbs in mind?

BTW, how's your Ukrainian?

The lowest class of Usenet flamer assumes the posture of
intellectual superiority by addressing the language skills of
non-native speakers. And, no, I'm not Shawn Grant.

Hi Trane,

You forgot to add that they usually assume everyone has English as their
native tongue because English is the ONLY language they know. This is the
reason the "intellectual superiority" is posture only, and not reality.

Obviously not, but those who use them (correctly) *do* care.

Do you know what you are talking about? First of all, the optics in the
Syntas are surprisingly good. Sure, QC is poor and some lemons slip
through; they also accidentally make some superb "standard" achromats.
As long as one is not dealing with defects like zones and roughness, in
refractors one is concerned mainly with chromatic aberration and the
Seidel errors, of which spherical aberration is the most obtrusive in
many (but by no means all) Synta achromats. The only way to correct CA
is to add more refractive elements, whether this is at the "big end"
(apochromats) or the small end (e.g. chromacor). Chromacor is also
available in varieties that correct SA, so it can be matched to
particular objectives. The consequence is that the result is very much
"above average optics".

TMB's and that class still have superior quality optics.

Not in dispute. They also (and rightly so) have prices to match. You get
what you pay for and, whilst I am no fan of VD's newsgroup antics, that
does not negate the fact that Chromacor is an excellent product that is
very good value for money.

Best,
Stephen

Nice post! You took the words right out of my mouth (as well as saving me
the time to look and pick examples).

"Garney Malenfant" Hmmm, Mal + enfant

I don't pick on names. But if that one is made up, he did a better job than
he realized.

Bill,

Nothing new from you. You do play the same old scratched record.

1. Valery has attacked SV , Carl Zambuto, Thomas Back, and Markus Ludes
on SAA repeatedly, and has threatened to sue Ed Ting for an unfavorable
review of one of Valery's products..

When you mind will understand two basic things:

I criticize SV's, TMB-Markus and CZ's _approach_ of their products
promoting.
The time finally showed, that SV's claims about their scopes fenomenal
color correction is nothing but marketing hype. Now all agree, that these
scopes are fine, overpriced, but still ordinary achromats (i.e. with same
or very similar color correction as other achromats). So, the time proved
I was right.
I don't know now which figues Karl Z. now prints in his certificates
1/63 or 1/50 wave. But these figures were nothing, but promoting hype too.
Finally, most peoples did understood this too.

In their intention to sell as many apos, as possible, TMB-Markus "team"
finally reached the point were they found acceptable to use bogus and cooked
pictures for demonstration of LZOS-made objectives superiority vs others.
And this was only half of a problem. Second half was that other products
were tested incorrectly and when I pointed out this, I was attacked by Markus,
Wane Gandona, TMB himself and other their followers. Very well known method!

2. Thomas Back has strongly praised Astrophysics repeatedly in this
group, and strongly praises AP on his web site, even though AP is a competitor.

Aga, especially quite recently here and it that dirty thread in the TMB
group with bogus pictures used and claiming, that 100 F/8 TMB indeed better
color corrected, than AP's 130 F/8.3 (despite the fact peoples do not see
any color in these AP scopes).
You, Bill, is simply biased.

It is well known that Tom still owns some of the early AP refractors that he
refuses to part with because of their high quality.
3. Tom has strongly praised Carl Zambuto mirrors and Starmaster
telescopes on SAA and on Yahoo newsgroups and has described his pride and
pleasure in owning a 22" Starmaster. This is even though to some extent top
quality reflectors compete, for example for planetary viewing, with top quality
Apos such as those Tom makes.
4. Markus Ludes has said on the Internet that a Zambuto mirror he had
in a 10" Portaball was the finest mirror, and one of the finest optics, he has
ever tested.
5. There is a picture of Markus on the Starmaster website proudly
displaying the 20" inch Starmaster he owns. He has posted on the Yahoo groups
about the fine quality of Starmaster Go-To, which Rick Singmaster had just
developed. This is even though Markus sells Apos which to some extent compete,
for example for planetary viewing , with top end reflectors.
6. Carl Zambuto has praised Astrophysics refractors on the Yahoo
Zambuto Mirror group.
7. I know little about Vic Maris, but I do note that a California
newspaper interview with Vic Maris of StellarVue, which I accessed with a link
posted on SAA recently, discloses that Vic is a naturalist, a forest ranger,
and for years has given astronomy talks to children.
From which of these people would you prefer to buy a telescope? Whom
would you trust in a business transaction of that sort? Gee, that's a difficult
decision.
Bill Meyers

Bill, buy a 1/63.4 wave corrected mirror. Tell this about all your friends.
Then take all of them and go with your mirror to any professional optical
shop and ask to test this mirror. I can warranty you, you will be blue in
face after this public confuse. ;-) Your coice will be disproved.

Ditto. What I didn't mention was one of the reasons that I don't usually
pick on grammar -- The First law of Usenet Grammarcoppery: He who picks
on grammatical errors does so in a post that is infested with them.

Your ignorance of things astronomical is matched only by your
ignorance of normal, decent human behaviour. Despite its high price
tag. Valery Deryuzhin's Chromacor has done more for the average member
of the amateur astronomical community. Than the costly jewels provided
by the those at the luxury end of the market.(IMHO)
Valery's Achilles heel is his desire to be Ralph Nader, Don Quixote,
Robin Hood, Superman & Roland Christen all rolled into one. But I
don't suppose you've heard of any of those either.
Isn't there a lynching somewhere? Where you could usefully hold the
victim's arms while he gets "taught a lesson"? Better hurry! You don't
want to miss any of the fun!
