I'm just saying that I wouldn't want to be the most expensive company
in astronomy right now.... I'd like to point out that in the "50s, thats right 1950, a similar situation existed. The premier cameras were the German Lica and Kodak's Retina. Then came the Japanese cameras like Nikon, Cannon, etc. Read the Popular Photography magazines of the time. According to them these wher junk. Their lenses were equated to the bottom of soda bottles (when they were made from glass). Wheres the camera market now. Who among this group ever heard of the Lica, Retina, or the Speed Graphic for that matter. Thats what I see happening in the Astronomy market. Price is coming down and quality going up. Thats the way of market growth. |

Never heard of Lica. Leica however is a company that produces some fine eyepieces and spotting scopes and some cameras as well... A bit pricy for many of us but they do seem to be in the market place... http://www.adorama.com/catalog.tpl?o...rY=Cameras% 2 0%26%20Lenses&searchinfo=leica&comparison=wa I think one can hope that the Chinese products will go the way the Japanese did but it is too soon to really tell. jon |
