Laura,
Ooops, sorry, you goofed! ![]() That should be some idiot "Creationist" Bible Scholars believe the Earth is 6000 years old. Sorry, I'm Catholic and no priest or nun ever told me that the Earth is 6,000 years old. Some "Christians" in their race to be farthest away from the Catholic Church.....make up their own stories! Best wishes, Ed |

He did it because he was a crazed religious fanatic persecuting innocent Jewish folks, like the Christians have been doing for thousands of years. Down with crazy religious loonacy! Long live the Sciences! How about this one? http://www.msu.edu/user/stocks/prof/ethics/tuskg.html Telling syphilitic african american men that they are being treated, when in reality they were being studied to see what full-blown syphilis can do. Made possible by a deeply racist mindset to be sure, but still in the name of science. Not that I don't basically agree with you that organized religion is a source of harm, and would be best done away with, but I don't think *anything* involving human beings can ever be completely free of "evil". To think that it could would actually be rather unscientific and pretty much religious in nature :-) Well, the Bible plainly states that the 'dark races' are sub-human and should be treated like animals, and religion was the justification used to torture and enslave black folks. Religious doctrine was also used to kill off most of the indigenous native 'indian' populations of North and South America. The religious fanatics also used the Bible to justify experimenting on and exterminating the innocent folks of color as well. Religion is still used today to justify genocide and ethnic cleansing, as in Bosnia, etc. The history of mankind is the history of religious persecution. The original American colonists came to this continent to escape what - 'religious persecution'. Then they did what - perpetrate 'religious persecution' on the natives. One religion always persecutes the other. That's why I say... Down with all religious persecution! Long live the Sciences! |

Naw, it should be "Down with humanity, the source of all evil in the world". These arguments have only proven that any tool in the hands of humans is capable of being destructive. Distorted religious dogma is merely the means used to facilitate evil actions in the name of religion (salve for the conscience of the evil-doer). Religions don't do evil, people do evil. Religions are merely mental constructions like society, clubs, teams, fraternities, etc. Some people are religious, some are scientific and some are clueless, all are capable of evil. The constraints of the structure they subscribe to either facilitates that evil or inhibits it. Science is far less constrictive than a moral code, so I think you may be throwing out the baby with the bath water here. Perhaps you can advocate genocide of all mankind in the name of science to rid the planet of potential evil doers. The Rudolph_X cleansing program. One size fits all! If you think then you are subject to purge. Resistance is futile.... Long live 'pure scientific values'. yada-yada-yada. O' |
