psychotic housebimbos like the one out there picketing the Bush ranch
need to be shot. They're not supporting the troops with their actions
by any means.

Only if you assume that the duration of our participation in Iraq is
independent of the domestic political process. One could make an argument
that hastening our withdrawal will save American lives.

I recently had the opportunity to meet someone just back from Iraq. He makes
it clear that the media is lying to the American public- the Iraqis are
*grateful* for our presence, and the vast majority of them are far better
off now than they were under Saddam. The truth doesn't make for good
ratings. If the politicos would simply make up their mind as to what they
want and shut up, the job could be completed in short order.

IF the truth about Iraq were getting out, there wouldn't be another Democrat
elected for a century.

But the media attention she's getting... that's another story.

The media is *precisely* the reason why the President should send her a
sunshade and a tall glass of fresh lemonade. When someone threatened to
picket my dad's store, he killed the idea by asking her what her favorite
cold drink was so he could stock up for her protest.

Remember that Star Trek TOS where Kirk got split into two halves by the
transporter accident?
I think we may be something going on like that here... once there was
someone who was middle of the road politically, but they attempted to
transport during an ion storm, and OM and Nicholas Fitzpatrick stepped
out at the other end.
Between the two of them they could wreak havoc; all the people who have
escaped arrest will certainly be shot.
This is still far better than what happened during Scott Lowther's
transporter accident, when he didn't realize he wasn't alone in the
transporter chamber, and his DNA was fused with that of a rabid cat.
(Cut to image of Scott sitting in front of computer, model Dyna-Soar
hanging by a string from the ceiling in front of him-
suddenly...involuntarily....his right arm rises up and begins swatting
repeatedly at the model.) ;-)

No, but the troops are defending her right to say whatever she wants to
say. I'd be pretty confused about our values as a nation if we went out

It happens in every war:

Only in the short run. The goal is not to "save American lives" if
they're the lives of the troops. The goal is to win the war.

Yes, it's interesting that while recruitment is down, retention of
regular military is actually pretty good. In other words, people who
actually have experience with what's going on there aren't unhappy
about it, whereas people who only get their news from the domestic
media don't want to go.

Well ,"two" doesn't equal "every", but I suspect similar protests can
be found for many more wars. Mothers generally don't enjoy the
deaths of their children.

I'm curious, though. Are the protestations of Mrs. Hanberg and Mrs.
Sheehan pretty much the same to you, or does one have more merit
than the other?

Dale
