And you can buy satellite dishes and receivers from a variety of sources.
I bought a dual head dish and receiver from a French DIY store for £70.
(I use it for European broadcasts from the Hotbird and Astra 1
satellites, but if pointed at Astra 2 it would be quite capable of
receiving BBC domestic services, except for the "interactive" bits which
use Sky's non-standard system.)

Cheapest solution is probably to buy a Sky box from a jumble / car boot
sale for a fiver and get a dish from any of the online retailers. You
don't need a viewing card for the BBC services.
