Double-A "Now" I lay my head to to dream. Best to keep in mind we
dream mostly about past events? My time of "now" is not your time of now.Reason I'm moving faster than you. The time set for "now" is very important for intelligent life that is aware it is alive. When I realize when I awake in the morning, and find myself dead I'm in a state of no now time Events in the past can destroy our Earth. Such as a gamma ray explosion that happened 666 thousand light years away. Bert |

... "Bill Sheppard" wrote in message... ... From Painius: And i really have a hard time with presently held beliefs in quantum theory that information cannot be transfered using nonlocality. It has the potential to really open up the whole Universe for us--to UNblind us--IF we can find a way to use it to transfer voice and data. I think you're in a bit of a 'box' in your concept of 'information transfer'. You're still thinkin' in terms of transmitting discrete data streams.. morse code, voice, binary code etc. This also seems true of Mr.Greysky's 'FTL' ideas. But true nonlocal information transfer would be holographic in nature.. sent as whole concepts and received as whole concepts, without need for any 'data streaming'. Whole concepts and the 'big picture' is what Wolter was all about. You may be right about the "box". But i can't help thinking how a spin change here on Earth from + to - resulting in a spin change on, say, Mars from - to + seems so naturally attractive for the exchange of data in binary format. This isn't how it works. One might even envision a parallel arrangement which would allow the xfer of giga- or even yotabytes (1024 x 10^21 kilobytes) of data instantaneously. This could be designed into a fairly holistic (or holistic-seeming) transfer, eh? ...or am i still missing something? Your still missing something. Instantaneous communications would be just a few steps away from functionally instantaneous transportation. Well, here you're getting into the principle of hyperdrive, which is first cousins with nonlocality.. both of which would be hard to conceive of if space is a 'void'. oc For me they're not very easy to perceive under *any* circumstances. I'm still with Einstein... spooky! Now, the concepts themselves aren't really spooky. It's when i begin thinking about their potential realities and practicalities that a shiver or two goes up me spine. happy days and... starry starry nights! -- Planets, stars and nebulae Hold attention in the sky-- Lay in hay and squint your eye, Lose your youth in moaning sigh, Find the truth in every lie! http://tinyurl.com/botdo Indelibly yours, Paine http://www.savethechildren.org/ http://www.painellsworth.net |

Hi double-A Yes 666 LYs fits well, and if it has the power of the 1999
gamma ray blast it would easily wipe out all planetary life in the Milky Way The best way you can catch up with my spacetime is to move to Huntington beach, for two reasons. Time goes faster when looking at pretty girls ,and you would be closer to the equators 1030 mph spin. You way up there in Oregon are closer to the exact center of the Earth's axis where rate of spin is zero. Double-A best to keep in mind that cold slows down your metabolism, and that means all things slow down. Bert PS Here in Micky Mouse world its 68F at 10 AM and sunny. Going sailing on lake Toho to build up my appetite |

From Bert:
Time goes faster when looking at pretty girls... Yep, time sure flies when your're havin' fun.:-)) Actually there's a little-known sidebar to the theory of relativity: "The angle of the dangle is relative to the mass of the **s and the beauty of the cutie". oc |

Hi Double-a Right you are moving fast makes time move slower, but living
closer to the earth's core means stronger gravity, and that makes time flow slower Tell oc not to make me laugh after eating 4 lobsters Hit 78 F,but with winds hitting 25 mph I gave up going sailing. Have one live lobster left.Showed it to Moby, and he went right into his cave. I wonder if lobsters and octopus are natural enemies? Bert |
